As a clinical hypnotherapist and psychotherapist, I use a science-based approach to support my clients. Neuroscience shows that we have control over our brains. Neuroplasticity allows for us to make changes to our behaviour, thinking and emotions. Hypnotherapy and brain-training work with the brain’s natural ability for change and to restore health to our mind and body. I keep myself up to date with medical management and I am trained in Standard-of-Care Relief for Pain and Drug & Alcohol recovery. I support clients through medical treatments such as chemotherapy, pre- and post-surgery. Key Hypnotherapy’s location is private and discreetly, located in Randwick and a short walk from the Prince of Wales Hospital, Royal Hospital for Women and Royal Randwick Shopping Centre.
Quit smoking,

Key Hypnotherapy

Our method blends together counselling, cognitive-behavioral therapy tools, and hypnosis,  to create long-lasting transformation.

By combining all these strategies, you can engage both the subconscious and the conscious brain, and this allows you to quickly (and almost effortlessly) shift patterns that hold you back.

Find the keys to heal, transform and set in motion your goals and aspirations through coaching, counselling, and hypnotherapy.

What is Hypnosis?

The most straightforward way to explain what is hypnosis: it is a form of therapy that makes you more susceptible to positive suggestions.

During hypnosis, the mind is open to making a change on an unconscious level.  The client is always aware of what is going on and in complete control at all times.

What to expect from Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a very normal and familiar feeling. You can have a feeling of trance while watching TV, looking at Instagram, driving, meditating and daydreaming. Hypnosis is very much like the feeling you have before dozing off to sleep. Although one session can be very effective to break a habit such as smoking, some issues can be resolved quickly, others can take a little time. Anywhere between 1-10 sessions depending on the issue.

The British Medical Association declared hypnosis as a form of therapy around 1958, and both the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association have endorsed hypnotherapy for use by professionals.

Hypnosis is not mind-control or like what you have seen in the movies. It is not some mystical woo-woo thing. It is more like a guided meditation with a goal.

Don’t expect to feel hypnotised, just expect to feel relaxed.

Everyone experiences hypnosis in their own way and that can range from a state of full awareness to a state of deep relaxation.  You are aware of what is happening at all times. You are in control at all times. Hypnosis is not something that is done to you – it is a process you are guided through.  You are not asleep. You cannot be hypnotised to do something you don’t want to do. In hypnosis, you go into a state of relaxation and when relaxed we can communicate directly to the unconscious mind. Once the conscious and unconscious mind is in accordance the body responds automatically. Trance-like experiences aren’t all that uncommon. If you’ve ever zoned out while watching a movie or daydreaming.

Could I get stuck in a trance?
You can’t get stuck in a trance – even if you’re one of the rare people who find they can’t remember a hypnotherapy session after it finishes. Everyone comes back to consciousness at the end of the session, and most are still partially aware during the session (due to entering a light but suggestible Alpha hypnosis state).

What is the difference between self-hypnosis and meditation?

About Guided Meditation & Self-Hypnosis

Hypnosis & Guided Meditation can improve your life in so many ways.

Hypnosis and Meditation are very similar. They both induce extremely beneficial, deeply relaxing and calming states of mind that can help you become more positive, calm and stress-free. Both are states of relaxation, heightened focus, and concentration.

The main difference is hypnosis focuses directly on a goal to achieve positive change  – such a becoming more confident, overcoming fear or anxiety, staying motivated to eat better and exercise, manage stress, sleep better or to quit smoking. Meditation, on the other hand, does not focus on a goal. In meditation, the purpose is to empty your mind and to free the mind of all thoughts.

With both hypnosis and guided meditation, you will not be asleep. You will hear everything said and will remember everything that takes place. Hypnosis works creating a very relaxed state which will allow for increased response to suggestibility. The hypnotic feeling is very similar to how you feel in the evening just prior to falling asleep.

Hypnosis is helpful for breaking bad habits, it is the glue that helps motivate you to stick to your goals. Hypnosis will allow you to make changes on a subconscious level. Through hypnosis will be able to re-program a belief you have.

Straight after your first session, you will begin to establish new thoughts and patterns that will lead you to the success that you desire and deserve. You will eliminate the old behaviours that were holding you back.

For best results, we suggest doing hypnosis for 3-4 weeks to reinforce the positive suggestions. Repetition is the key. By repeating the process over and over the positive suggestions will stay with you.
