Eva Lane Anxiety ReliefWho are you? Eva Lane, Newcastle NSW Tell us about what you do and what inspired you to get started? I provide distance healing and online meditation courses for anxiety. https://www.anxiousrelief.com I was inspired to get started because anxiety ran my life for the first 20 or so years, and then I have spent the next 20 or so learning what works, and what doesn’t work, to manage anxiety naturally. I want for people to not have to go through what I went through, to access natural strategies to manage their anxiety. As a working mum, how do you find calm in the chaos? I do two things: Every morning, I connect with “source” and bring white light into every chakra, then bring that light down through my base chakra to connect with the core of the earth. This grounds me and prepares me for the day ahead. Every evening, I find 5 minutes to stand outside and breathe deeply, and then I turn my attention within and ‘find myself’. I feel inward, and sort through the different layers of ‘stuff’ I have going on in my life, and continue o feel inward (like peeling the layers of an onion) until I come to a place where I just “am”. It is a very welcoming and comforting place to be, and the feeling once I find myself never changes. This calms me and prepares me for sleep. During the times when you feel overwhelmed or lacking in motivation, what helps you get back on track? I set myself goals at the beginning of every year and review those goals regularly. I also keep a very strong to-do list and cross items off as I go. These things remind me that everything can be accomplished in steps. What do you do to relax and unwind? I have an evening routine with my husband every night after the kids are in bed, we drink milo and watch a show on Netflix together. It’s my favourite time of day. What has been your greatest achievement to date? Rather than any single moment, I’d like to think that my whole life these days is an achievement. I have managed to take myself from a tense, anxious wreck to someone who feels like she has things in order, but can cope when things aren’t in order. This feeling is tremendous and I am grateful to myself for putting in the hard work every day. What is your life motto or positive affirmation? This year, my motto is “get it done” – just detach from the resistance and emotion (as hard as it is) and work through it, step by step. Have you ever had a disappointment or setback that ended up leading you to something wonderful? Oh, yes! In fact, my entire business has been founded on the 3 steps forward, 2 steps back philosophy. But what I’ve realised is, success is a journey. Even the “overnight” success stories had a 10-year run-up. So my approach to ‘failure’ has completely evolved – I have a process to review and see what went wrong and when, and what can be done to negate the error in the future.
