Tips for better sleep Meditation can help you sleep better. There’s nothing like waking up after a good night’s sleep, feeling refreshed, energised and ready to embrace the day. Sleep is a vital part of our health and wellbeing. Unfortunately many people struggle with getting a good night of slumber.  Whether it be an inability to fall asleep, stay asleep or suffering from insomnia, usually stress, anxiety or depression can be contributing factors when we just can’t get into those deep sleep states which we need to feel rested. Meditation could be the key for you for better sleep. Finding a way of winding down, calming the mind and body can be really help in setting the stage to getting a restful night’s sleep.  That’s where a meditation practice can be very helpful as it’s a natural way of relaxing one’s mind and letting go of the worries of the day.  What happens during sleep and meditation are very different.  When we’re asleep we are not aware of what’s going on in our heads which can often be the challenge when it comes to falling asleep in the first place.  It’s all the stuff running through our heads that keeps us alert, awake and feeling exhausted because what we are really needing is to switch off. With meditation on the other hand, the intention is to be aware of what is going on in our heads and to gently unwind and close all the mental loops that we get caught up in.  Doing this is a powerful and proven way of achieving deep states of relaxation ideal when preparing to get a good night’s sleep. Guided meditation is an ideal way of helping you drift into sleep.  At Key Mindfulness we’ve created the “Key for Me” app with mediations specifically to help ease you into a state of deep relaxation and tranquillity.  Try out Into the Void, Floating into Relaxation, Cocoon of Silence, Body Mind Relaxation which will help you get into the sleep zone.  Pop your ear pieces in, lie back and select the sleep option, and drift into sleep.
